T-Mobile has lost Starbucks’ WiFi hotspots to BT Openzone & O2

April 21st, 2009

Starbucks Wi-Fi

T-Mobile has lost the contract to supply Starbucks customers with WiFi hotspots.  From this week BT Openzone will start rolling out WiFi into 650 Starbucks stores across the UK.

O2 already has a deal in place with BT Openzone to provide WiFi hotspot access to its iPhone and mobile broadband customers.  Starbucks WiFi access will be added for mobile broadband customers in the summer.

This deal may impact on your choice of mobile broadband deal.  If you spend a lot of time in Starbucks because you’re a fan of their coffee, or perhaps you have business meetings there, you will now be better off signing up for O2 mobile broadband rather than T-Mobile.
