3 have just announced the launch of a new ‘one-month’ mobile broadband tariff that offers 5GB of data download for £15 per month without the need to commit to an 18 month contract.
Much like the very popular SIM Only tariffs for mobile phone customers, You can sign up to this contract and use your existing 3 mobile broadband dongle (or buy one on eBay!).
According to 3, 5GB is enough to send 5,000 emails or about 50 hours of web surfing.
This new tariff is a good option for low risk mobile broadband. Ideal for students or those who regularly move house as you can just cancel the contract if your new abode has poor 3 coverage.
It’s also a good next step for pay as you go mobile broadband users who find they are topping up every month. You can use your 3 pay as you go dongle with the new SIM, although a new dongle will only cost you £19.99.
Most other £15 mobile tariffs only give you 3GB of data or less.

Hot on the heels of T-Mobile losing their deal to supply Starbucks with Wi-Fi hotspots, they have struck back by signing up to provide Hotspot access on Virgin Trains.
T-Mobile will offer wireless access to Virgin passengers travelling the West Coast Main Line. The coverage will apparently work even when the train is going through tunnels, although we’ll have to wait and see if it actually works.
The T-Mobile Wi-Fi HotSpot service, will initially launch on Virgin’s Pendolino trains, with 21 ‘Super Voyager’ trains to follow in the summer.
The service will be available for free to first class passengers and T-Mobile broadband customers. WiFi time will cost 75p for ten minutes, £5 per hour or £10 for a full day. If you’re likely to be a regular user you should consider signing up to T-Mobile’s mobile broadband service to get free WiFi access as part of your tariff from only £15 per month or as part of a pay as you go tariff.

Orange have reported a 4,125% increase in mobile broadband dongle usage over the last 12 months.
Orange released the findings from its fifth Digital Media Index, a report that assesses customer consumption of digital media. As well as the mind-blowing increase in mobile broadband usage, the number of dongle subscriptions has increased by over 504%.
Mobile broadband seems to be bucking the recessionary trends and growing at a huge rate. Cheaper mobile broadband subscriptions (of which Orange are currently the cheapest), pay as you go mobile broadband and free laptop deals are all playing their part and helping to incentivise thousands of people to try it out.

T-Mobile has lost the contract to supply Starbucks customers with WiFi hotspots. From this week BT Openzone will start rolling out WiFi into 650 Starbucks stores across the UK.
O2 already has a deal in place with BT Openzone to provide WiFi hotspot access to its iPhone and mobile broadband customers. Starbucks WiFi access will be added for mobile broadband customers in the summer.
This deal may impact on your choice of mobile broadband deal. If you spend a lot of time in Starbucks because you’re a fan of their coffee, or perhaps you have business meetings there, you will now be better off signing up for O2 mobile broadband rather than T-Mobile.
